QUESTION: Why do I need a service contract if Ford's quality is so good?

ANSWER: At Ford, Quality is Job One and we're proud of that . But anything that's mechanical can have problems. Ford ESP is like health insurance -- you hope you never use it, but it's good to have if you need it!

QUESTION: I'm already paying for the vehicle. How can I afford anything more?

ANSWER: Part of what you're buying with the vehicle is peace of mind. ESP extends that peace of mind. You could save the cost on one covered repair.

QUESTION: What do I do if I just do not have the money to pay for ESP right now.

ANSWER: We've got a convenient credit card payment plan or you can include the plan in your finance contract (in most cases)

QUESTION: Should I wait and buy it later?

ANSWER: You might as well get it now. The contract will be back-dated to the in-service date, so there's no savings in waiting and, who know, prices may be higher when you're ready to buy. Also, you will get rental car reimbursement immediately. And, finance rates may be higher later if you decide to finance the plan.

QUESTION: I do my own repairs. Why do I need it?

ANSWER: We encourage good maintenance. But, what if you're on the road or it's a high-tech part?. ESP will cover it (for covered components) and you'll avoid cost increases and get towing and rental as well.

QUESTION: What if I have my own mechanic?

ANSWER: That's okay for routine maintenance. But today's vehicles are complex and may require special diagnostic tools. The financial protection Ford ESP provides against major repair costs can't be matched by private mechanics.

QUESTION: What if I've always taken care of my car and I have never had any repair problems?

ANSWER: That's great! But today's vehicles have a lot of parts (15,000 or more). And it may cost hundreds of dollars if something does go wrong with one of them. ESP is extra protection and it'll help on your resale too.

QUESTION: Why should I subscribe to the ESP plan when I've had service contracts before, but I've never used them?

ANSWER: Let's hope you never need to! But, it's like buying accident insurance on your vehicle -- it's great to know you have it when you need it. And, what's more likely -- an accident or mechanical failure?

QUESTION: What if I had a plan similar to this before, but a part wasn't covered by that plan?

ANSWER: It's true that not all parts are covered. Perhaps you purchased a plan with less coverage than you really needed or you purchased a non-Ford plan in the past.

QUESTION: What if I only plan to keep the vehicle for three years?

ANSWER: You'll still have some very big advantages: You'll have protection in case you do keep the vehicle longer or give it to someone in the family. And, you can transfer the protection so it will help resale. Also, you'll have rental reimbursement right away. The N.A.D.A. Guide Book suggests that cars with a service contract are worth more.

QUESTION: I have a two-year Red Carpet Lease. Why do I need ESP?

ANSWER: The MaintenanceCARE plan might be right for you, so you can maintain your vehicle properly and maximize the lease-end value. Or, RentalCARE provides the convenience of first-day rental for warranty-covered repairs. Also, if you decide to keep the vehicle beyond the lease, you'll be protected if you have component coverage with one of the other ESP plans.
